Parent Involvement Program

Get Involved! Parents make the difference at Wauwatosa Catholic School.

Becoming involved in your child's school is a great way to get to know other school and parish families, is lots of fun, and it helps out our kids. Parent involvement can play a critical role in a child's academic and social development. At the same time, involved parents help build a sense of community at a school, help the school offer services that it otherwise could not and have fun while doing it. There are many ways that parents can volunteer at Wauwatosa Catholic School.

The Parent Involvement Program (PIP) is designed to involve parents in the life of the school. Parent participation is an integral part of many programs at Wauwatosa Catholic School: the auction, family skate nights, middle school dances, recess and lunch duty, athletics, Home and School Association and School Board committees, classroom parents and field trip chaperones are all important elements to the life of our school. It is important that parents participate in the total educational experience of their children and PIP helps to provide this opportunity.

PIP has many goals. It has been effective in providing the administration a means to:

  • Create a welcoming environment for each of our families by involving parents and guardians in events throughout the year. We are more than a school for your child. Through PIP we become a community.
  • Reduce tuition rates by having the parents and guardians of our students fulfill many of the responsibilities that may otherwise require paid positions.
  • Fully staff our revenue generating events. The school's operating budget is dependent on the success of the auction, Home and School Association fundraisers, middle school dances, skate nights, etc. The success of these events is dependent on the hard work and dedication of our families.

Parents are encouraged to participate in as many events as their personal schedules permit for the benefit of the school and your children. Parents are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to form friendships that will last a lifetime!

Families are required to fulfill PIP requirements by June 1, 2017. Families are required to track their own hours for each activity and record them on the PIP Service Hours Record Sheet. Monthly tuition statements will include the total number of PIP hours required for the school year and will reflect the hours that you submit.

ANYONE who will be volunteering at Wauwatosa Catholic School must complete the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safeguarding All of God's Family requirements. This includes reading/signing the Code of Ethical Standards and the Mandatory Reporting Responsibilities, a background check and a one time safe environment session. Please email Mrs. Heidi Hernandez with any questions.
