IB for Parents
International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes aim to do more than other curricula by developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who are motivated to succeed.
Primary Years Programme (ages 3-12)
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) focuses on the development of the whole child, preparing students to become active, caring, lifelong learners. Students are encouraged to demonstrate respect for themselves and others, and to participate in the world around them.
The PYP aims to create a curriculum that is engaging, relevant, challenging and significant for learners in the 3-12 age range. The curriculum is transdisciplinary, meaning that it focuses on issues that go across subject areas.
Going from the Primary Years Programme to the Middle Years Programme
The PYP prepares students for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) through its concept-driven, interdisciplinary approach. PYP students spend most of their time in one classroom with one teacher, exploring the connections between academic subjects. In the MYP, students begin the study of distinct disciplines. Both programmes reflect the depth, breath and balance that characterize the IB continuum of international education.
Middle Years Programme (ages 11-16) *Application in process
The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connections between their studies and the real world.
